Construction Site Engineer and Assistant Project Manager Jobs in Kenya

A construction project management company implementing a wide range of projects of high standards to include the construction project at the Aga Khan Academy site in Mombasa is in need of:

Site Engineer

The Site Engineer will report to the Project Manager. The general role will be to oversee the mechanical, electrical, plumbing / drainage, heating, ventilation and air conditioning work to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency, quality and timely progress at pre-construction, construction and post construction stages.

In addition the Site Engineer will be required to undertake specific tasks delegated to him/her by the project manager.

Ideal candidates should meet the following qualifications:

MEP /HVAC services related qualification with minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma.
Minimum 5 years work experience in an engineering practice (part of this has to include site based work).
Proven ability to monitor, assess and evaluate the work of professional consultants and contractors.
Computer competence in MS Office (MS Project an advantage) and application of computer-assisted design (AutoCAD, Photoshop).

Assistant Manager - Project

The Assistant Manager, Project will report to the Project Manager. The general role will be to provide support to the Project Manager and undertake tasks delegated to him/her.

Based at the project site in Mombasa, the Assistant Manager, Project will work closely with the project contractor to ensure quality control procedures are in place and address issues that may affect the agreed cost, time and quality of site works.

Ideal candidates should meet the following qualifications:

Minimum of 7 years project management experience in high standard institutional projects (part of this has to include site based work);
Graduate of Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or its equivalent from a reputed University/Institution.
Proven strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.
Formal training in Project Management.
Computer competence in MS Office & (MS Project an advantage).

In addition to the above, the following are integral requirements for BOTH positions:

Enviable project experience and proven team leadership abilities;
Superior skills and extensive exposure in managing the initiation, planning, design and construction processes; and,
Excellent written and oral communication in English, presentation, coordination and influencing skills.

Candidates who have previously worked in high quality projects related to design and construction of institutional facilities will have significant advantage.
